Indonesia President Yudhoyono Conferred The Singapore Order of Temasek (First Class)

In my previous post, I wrote "This Order have also been awarded to 10 foreign dignitaries. However, it appears that such practice have been discontinued more than 20 years ago."

Last week, The Order of Temasek (First Clas) was conferred to outgoing Indonesia President Yudhoyono by our President Tony Tan at the Istana.

Thus proving my statement wrong.

Interestingly, the first foreign dignitary to be conferred The Order of Temasek was Alegria President Ahmed Ben Bella in 1963.

"Ahmed Ben Bella,  (born December 25, 1916Maghnia [Marnia], Algeria—died April 11, 2012Algiers), principal leader of the Algerian War of Independence against France, the first prime minister (1962–63) and first elected president (1963–65) of the Algerian republic, who steered his country toward a socialist economy." The other foreign dignitaries were:

(1964) Gamel Addul Nasser, second President of Egypt.

(1967) Eisaku Sato, Prime Minister of Japan between 1964 and 1972, who presided over Japan’s post-World War II reemergence as a major world power.

(1967) Cambodia Prince Norodom Sihanouk.

(1973) Great Britain Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip

(1974) Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos

(1974) Indonesia President Suharto

(1990) Brunei Sultan Bolkiah

I guess Malaysia Prime Minister Najib will be the next foreign dignitary to be conferred The Order of Temasek.
